Public Notice – Globe Electric Company Inc. Issues Notice – Under-cabinet accent lights require lower wattage bulb

Montreal, September 7, 2007--- Globe Electric Company Inc. is issuing a notice regarding its 3-pack of under-cabinet accent lights, model 28036. Globe advises that these accent lights be fitted with 10 watt bulbs, not 20 watt bulbs as currently included with this product and indicated on the product label. Working with Underwriter Laboratories, Globe has determined that to avoid excess heat buildup, 10 watts should be the listed maximum wattage.

The accent lights affected are identified with model 28036 and are sold across Canada exclusively by Wal-Mart and Loblaws. The product can be identified by a label positioned around the plastic housing. This notice affects only those products with model 28036.

Consumers who purchased this product are asked to discontinue use of 20 watt bulbs and replace them with 10 watt bulbs. Consumers can call Globe Customer Service to arrange for a new identification label and replacement 10 watt bulbs for their accent lights.

Public Notice - Keystore International Issues Voluntary Recall - Limited number of desk lamps involved; no reports of injury or property damage

Montreal, December 22, 2006--- Keystore International, a subsidiary of Globe Electric with offices in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China., is voluntarily recalling Globe halogen desk lamp model 52220. The bulb wattage indicated on the packaging reads 50 watts while the lamp is certified for 35 watts. If used with a 50 watt bulb, the potential exists for the lamp head to overheat and begin to melt. There have been no reports of injury or property damage involving this product.

Approximately 2000 halogen desk lamps affected are all the same model 52220 and were sold across Canada primarily by Canadian Tire under the UL label file E203660. The product can be identified by a label positioned beneath the base showing model: 52220 and factory ID: HXL(IV). This recall affects only those products with a label as indicated as above.

Consumers who purchased this specific unit are asked to discontinue use with a 50 watt bulb and replace it with a 35 watt bulb. Customers can call Globe Electric to arrange for the receipt of a free two-pack of 35 watt halogen light bulbs or they can return the lamp to their local Canadian Tire store for refund or exchange.
